Hey Chris,

I’m sorry that it’s come to the surgery option.  I know they have tried to get me to do it for years but I keep declining.

I’m still losing a lot of blood too but to start the surgery is to know that he will continue having them FOREVER and ever.  It isn’t a cure.  Not with Crohn’s Disease.

If he happens to have Ulcerative colitis then the surgery will be a blessing.  If he has Crohn’s it will be a beginning to a VERY frustrating and painful rest of his life.  At least that’s the experience I’ve uncovered while getting to meet all the volunteers at our charity event.  I’ve had a chance to discuss with them their options, their treatments and their remission cycles.  It’s been very informative.

He’s definitely on my mind lately… as are you and yours,

Hey there!

I'm sure the list is MUCH longer.... trust me. He just threw those out there.

Another blog? I think what you might mean is that Dar went over to MySpace.... she got tired of the weirdos on MSN. A few others opened blogs over there just so they can access her site but they still post on this one. I think that's what you mean.

Anyway, hope you and the kiddos are doing well.

Take care

Awesome! You're back :) Glad you're feeling better (hmmm, that feeling like a new person stuff isn't available by prescription is it? Rats!) Ha! Like there was any doubt Elyssa and Cliff wouldn't still be going strong, they've survived two of mankind's greatest challenges (vacation and car breakdown). Have a great weekend (okay, I'm pushing the envelope a bit there, but it's like a placebo effect)!

Hey Chris,

The name was a good one. Laughed when i read it. I am doing okay I am just waiting for a date. The wait is the hardest and this just kind of came from no where if you know what I mean. It has only been going on for a month now but it has grown alot in that month I am afraid if they don't hurry I will be a mess by the time they do surgery. My son took a picture of my stomach last night because he just couldn't get over how big it was. He saids we would laugh about it later.
I will keep you posted

Hey Chris,

Thanks for checking in.

I am glad that you are feeling better.

No baby news yet...... hopefully soon! I am just trying to do some last minute catching up on everyone. My internet was down for a few days and I was really going thru withdrawal. I really must be a blog dork!

The move went well. It basically took all of last week packing and moving. I am glad its done now.

Cant wait to hear the rest of Cliff's story.

Hey Chris,

I'm glad Cliff and Elyssa are doing great! I hope he finds a car soon and also happy that your 'spills' seem to finally be over.

I just read a book that I absolutely HAD to share with you. I just kinda came across it and bought it out of curiosity. It's called "Learning Sickness: A Year with Crohn's Disease" by James M. Lang.
http://www.learningsickness.com/

It isn't filled with medical mumbo jumbo. He isn't a doctor that's going to say stuff that no one's going to understand. It's just his story and how he dealt with it.

I REALLY did connect with almost every page and every chapter. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me remember it all... but most importantly it reminded me of who I am because of this disease. It reminded me of the positive things and how when I’m in the middle of the dark part (like i am now) I have the uphill part to look forward to. You know when you've been deprived of anything for a really long time those first tastes of it are amazing.

Well living through a flare up like this deprives me of life... of my life. And I now remember what it's like during the uphill battle. What it's like when parts of my life are handed back to me... it feels like I get another chance at everything... everything is new again... it's an incredible feeling and I have THAT too look forward to when I’m better.

Every tree is beautiful, every taste seems like gourmet, every smell is sweeter then before, the sun is brighter, my love is stronger. It's the greatest feeling. This book brought that image back to me... he reminded me of what I have to look forward to in the near future.

Here's my favorite quote from the book!

"When illness strikes, in any form, rest and make up whatever sacrifices are necessary to return to health...when Health returns, live!" - James M. Lang

Hurrah! You are feeling better. I am so glad.

I imagine you are super busy taking care of the family AND driving Cliff around until he gets a car. Don't work too hard!

To answer your question, about 32 pounds so far. I still have a long way to go but I am very pleased with my progress.

Don't worry Chris, take time which you need. Anyway you have a lot of work to do with Cliff now because of the car.
But I'll be here and I am looking forward to read Cliff's story. Your friend Jana.

So happy that you are feeling like a new woman. Being sick sucks the life out of you, it sucks the fun out of everything...it just plain sucks!

That is awesome news that they are still going great! Hopefully he will find a car soon. Looking forward to reading another entry in Cliff's story.

Hope you are having a wonderful day!
